Add Drivers and Set Seats

Opening the Ride Screen

  1. Tap an event on your dashboard or in a carpool
  2. The ride screen opens with two tabs:

    • To (green) — rides to the event
    • From (blue) — rides home from the event
  3. The Drivers row shows who's driving. A green/blue check means they're driving that direction; a crossed-out avatar means they're not.

Adding / Signing Up a Driver

  1. In the Drivers row, tap the + tile (you'll be asked to sign in if you haven't)
  2. Pick a driver from the list, or Invite Friend to add a new one (see How To: Invite a Driver to Your Carpool )
  3. Tap a driver's avatar to open their card already expanded

Inside a driver's card:

  • Can Drive? — turn on for the current direction (To or From). Set this on each tab if they drive both ways.
  • Only the carpool owner or that driver can change someone's Can Drive setting.

Setting Seats

Seats = how many riders a driver can carry on that trip.

  1. Expand your own driver card (you can only edit your own seats)
  2. Make sure Can Drive? is on for that direction
  3. Use the Seats number selector to set your capacity (0–10)

Other people's seat counts are shown as read-only.

What "Seats" Actually Means

  • It's the driver's capacity for that ride — e.g. 3 seats means up to 3 riders.
  • Seats have a default (your usual capacity in this carpool) and a per-trip value. When you change seats on a specific ride, that number also becomes your new default for future trips, so you only set it once.
  • The seat badge on a driver's avatar shows riders / seats and is colour-coded:
    • Green — empty (no riders yet)
    • Orange — some seats filled (room to spare)
    • Red — full (at capacity)
    • Dark red — over capacity (more riders than seats — move someone or add a seat)

Assigning Riders to a Driver's Car

When two or more drivers are driving, you decide who rides with whom:

  1. Expand the driver's card
  2. Tap Select Riders and choose riders for that car (you can't add past the seat limit — full riders show as "Full")

You can also do this from the rider's side — see How To: Add Riders, Set Pickup & Drop-off, and Skip a Trip.

When There's Only One Driver

If just one driver is driving a direction that day, every rider automatically rides with them — there's no car to choose. Their badge shows all riders as filled (e.g. 3/3 ), and the "Select Car" step is hidden for riders. You'll still see a dark red badge if there are more riders than seats, so you know to add capacity or arrange a second driver.

Managing Drivers for Many Days at Once

Use the Ride Organizer to plan ahead:

  1. On the ride screen, tap the ⋮ menu → Ride Organizer
  2. Pick a date range (2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, or custom)
  3. On any day's card, use the ⋮ menu → Edit Drivers to choose the To and From drivers, or tap the driver chips to toggle them quickly
  4. A red Missing driver warning flags any day that still needs a driver

Tips

  • Set your seat count once — it carries forward as your default.
  • Watch the badge colours: dark red means a car is over capacity.
  • A single driver covers all riders automatically; add a second driver only when one car isn't enough.
  • The carpool owner can remove drivers from the Drivers / Members tab.
